OSHAKATI – The police in the Omusati region are investigating the death of a 22-month-old boy at Okathitukambanda village in the Ogongo constituency on Monday.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) regional commander Ismael Basson said the incident reportedly occurred around 19h40 when the deceased was left under minimal supervision with his twin cousins aged two, and another five-year-old cousin.

It is alleged that the twins shoved sand into the deceased’s mouth, nose and eyes.
The deceased had been identified as Megameno Amweenye, a Namibian national.

No arrests have been made as the suspects are minors, and the next of kin have been informed.
