‘Blue Machine’ Indongo set to defend his WBO title

Home Featured ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo set to defend his WBO title

WINDHOEK – Famously dubbed ‘The Blue Machine’ by hundreds of local boxing fans for his astonishing speed and venomous accurate punches, Julius Indongo will this Saturday face his sternest test of character when he confronts South African veteran boxer Kaizer Mabuza.

Indongo, undefeated and one of Namibia’s most accomplished boxers in the paid ranks, is set to defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa light Welterweight title against the highly-experienced Mabuza at the Windhoek Country Club, over 12-rounds.

In Mabuza, the cat-footed and hard-punching Namibian youngster faces the toughest fight of his career and will be expected to deliver nothing but a resounding victory against the somewhat out-of-depth South African pugilist.

A possible victory for Indongo this weekend will go a long way in defining his future prospects while also boosting the stature of his profile as a professional boxer.
Boxing Promoter Nestor Tobias said: “It’s not going to be an easy fight for Julius but it will be a good test that will determine how far he wants to go as a boxer. You have to go through such opponents and through such tough fights if you want to fight for a world title one day, so it all starts now for the ‘Blue Machine’.

“Saturday’s fight is a must-win for Indongo, so we expect nothing less than victory from him. I know Mabuza will be coming all out on him but Indongo’s speed and power is incredible and those two elements should be enough to carry him through,” said Tobias.

Meanwhile, Flyweight pugilist Japhet ‘Thin Man’ Utoni will finally be accorded a perfect opportunity to avenge his earlier defeat to Abmerk Shindjuu when the two boxers rumble it out for over 12-rounds for the WBO Africa Flyweight title.

In another rematch, Samuel ‘The Hammer’ Kapapu takes on Martin Haikali for the WBO Africa Lightweight title over 12-rounds. Also in action will be upcoming boxer Kennedy Kamati who takes on Domicusi Weyulu in a 4-round Lightweight fight, which will be preceded by a Featherweight fight between Onesmus Nekundi and Erick Kalenga over 4-rounds, amongst other heated bouts.

The tickets are going for N$200.00 for general tickets and N$10 000.00 for a table seating 10 people with refreshments and snacks. Tickets are available at the Namibian Boxing Control Board, The Sunshine Boxing Academy and at Computicket outlets at all Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide.
