The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran) has recognised the remarkable effort of its Values Teams that recently concluded their 2025 Community Outreach Initiative. Through this annual programme, staff teams identified and supported community-based organisations that promote education, health, and social inclusion across the country.
Each team received N$7 500 from Cran to contribute to a charity of their choice and was encouraged to raise an additional minimum of N$10 000 through internal fundraising efforts. Collectively, the four Values Teams: Passion, Accountability, Respect, and Innovation raised an outstanding N$71 431, reflecting their strong sense of unity and compassion.
Team Passion visited three special needs schools: the School for the Visually Impaired, the School for the Hearing Impaired, and Môreson Special School, all located in Khomasdal, Windhoek. The team raised N$17 701, which was used to provide much-needed stationery, cleaning supplies, laminating machines, and treats for learners. The initiative brought smiles and hope to over 250 children with disabilities from across Namibia.
Team Accountability selected Naiti Combined School in the Okalongo Constituency, Omusati Region, where they addressed urgent infrastructure needs. With N$18 600 raised, the team donated building materials, roofing sheets, cement, and stationery valued at over N$18 000, easing the challenges faced by the school’s 355 learners and 15 teachers.
Team Respect partnered with Ebenezer Soup Kitchen in Havana, Windhoek. Their contribution of N$17 930 was used to purchase food items, wood, and cement to support a facility that provides daily meals to over 600 vulnerable children. The team’s efforts ensured the continuity of this vital community service and helped enhance the kitchen’s operations.
Team Innovation extended support to the Paediatric Oncology Ward at Windhoek Central Hospital, where they donated hygiene products, electrical supplies, educational materials, and child-friendly items worth N$17 200. The initiative directly benefited children undergoing cancer treatment and the healthcare staff dedicated to their care.
Chairperson of the Value Champions, Abraham Eita, commended all participating teams, noting that “this initiative reflects Cran’s continued commitment to social responsibility, teamwork, and community empowerment”. “Our staff’s generosity and dedication remind us that true service extends beyond the workplace and into the lives of those who need it most,” said Eita.
