Several suspects were arrested across the country for possession of drugs over the weekend.
Housebreakings
At Ongwediva, suspects allegedly forced open a bedroom window using an unknown object and stole a cellphone and two laptops that were near a bed. No arrests have been made. In another incident at Olunkono, unknown suspects entered a house through an unlocked door and stole jewellery, electrical equipment and shoes. In Brakwater, Windhoek, suspects broke into business premises and stole a safe and company documents.
No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, at Oshandubala village, suspects allegedly broke burglar bars to gain access to an unoccupied house where they stole household items and a Toyota pick-up vehicle from the garage.
Culpable homicide
Two people died in separate road incidents over the weekend.
A pedestrian died on Friday night after being struck by a Toyota Hilux GD6 double cab on the B10 Road near Mayara village in Nkurenkuru while allegedly crossing the road.
In another incident at Shadimbungu village near Divundu, Thifura Angeline Mushinga, a seven-year-old girl, died after she reportedly ran into the road and was hit by a Nissan Hardbody.
Attempted murder
Police arrested a 20-year-old man in Ekulo village near Omuthiya after he allegedly stabbed a 36-year-old man with an okapi knife following an argument while they were drinking traditional home-brewed alcohol.
The victim was hospitalised, and the suspect is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court.
Murder
A 35-year-old man died after he was stabbed in Block E, Rehoboth, on Friday night.
Police allege the deceased and a friend encountered a suspect and a woman while walking. The deceased allegedly attempted to rob the suspect, who then stabbed him in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Rape
A 48-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl at the Omahenene location in Oshakati.
Police allege the suspect, who is a neighbour of the victim, forced the girl to accompany him to his house where he raped her.
The suspect remains in police custody.
Attempted robbery
A 34-year-old suspect was arrested in Block E, Rehoboth, after he allegedly attempted to rob a victim at knifepoint.
Suicides
In Otjomuise, near Windhoek, the body of a 28-year-old man was discovered hanging from a roof structure.
Another case was reported at Nepara village in the Mpungu constituency, where a 38-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself with a cloth tied to a tree.
Inquest cases
At Sesriem Canyon, a 29-year-old German national reportedly complained of chest pains before collapsing under a tree.
In Walvis Bay, a 31-year-old man died in his vehicle after it collided with a stationary car.
