A 46-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her brother-in-law and injuring her husband in Windhoek’s Elisenheim  estate, made her first appearance in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where she was denied bail.

Making her brief appearance before Magistrate Victoria Absalom, Andrea Feris was informed of her right to either represent herself, secure the services of a privately instructed lawyer, or apply for legal aid.

Feris is accused of stabbing and killing 40-year-old Abré Maasdorp, and injuring her husband, 45-year-old Granville Maasdorp, after an altercation on Sunday afternoon.
In the incident, the deceased and his brother were allegedly alerted by the married couple’s daughter that she was smashing items in the house. 

Upon their arrival at the house, it is alleged that Feris then stabbed and injured Granville, before fatally stabbing Abre.
Magistrate Absalom denied Feris bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offence, public interest in the matter and pending witness statements.
Feris indicated her intention to apply for legal aid.

She also faces an attempted murder charge in connection with the alleged attack on her husband, who is reportedly receiving medical treatment and is in a stable condition.
The State was represented by Marlon Adams in the matter, while Feris appeared without representation.

The case was postponed to 04 June 2026 to allow for further police investigations. Feris was informed of her right to lodge a formal bail application.
