2015-03-10Staff Report 2 TSUMEB - Oshikoto Regional Governor Penda ya Ndakolo is a happy man after the charges against him for stock theft were last week dismissed by the Prosecutor-General Martha Imalwa. In a letter dated March 4 2015 the PG’s office notified Ya Ndakolos’s law firm that the charges against him would be dropped citing that the PG “declines to prosecute on the available evidence”. A case of stock theft CR 21/01/2015 was opened against the regional governor. A weekly newspaper reported ya Ndakolo allegedly stole a cow from Cham-Cham village before he donated it to the Oshigambo ELCIN Church. Speaking at the farewell function of the governor at Omuthiya over the weekend a visibly upset Swapo Party co-ordinator for Oshikoto Region, Armas Amukwiyu, took a swipe at those behind the charging of the Oshikoto governor for stock theft, saying that their attempt to keep ya Ndakolo from going to parliament failed dismally. Amukwiyu who was reading the letter that the PG’s office sent to Ya Ndakolo’s lawyers re-iterated that the charges were a “lie” and that people who don’t want him to go to parliament were behind the incident. “It is rubbish and nonsense, he is not a thief, they tried to block him from going to parliament but it didn’t work,” he thundered. An emotional ya Ndakolo declined to comment on the issue and only thanked those that worked very closely with him during his 11 years in office as governor. “I will always be the son of the great Oshikoto Region, I am very grateful to the Almighty God for the guidance throughout my political career and those that I worked with very closely in office,” he said. He further urged those that will be working at the office of the governor to continue with their hard work and show cooperation and support to the new governor that will be appointed by the new Head of State Dr Hage Geingob who will be sworn in on March 21.
