Lüderitz
Marco Fishing last week donated two state-of-the-art computers, worth N$12 000, to Nautilus Primary School in Lüderitz.
!Nami#nus Constituency Councillor Jan Scholtz said Nautilus Primary School contacted his office last year requesting assistance in securing some computers.
Scholtz contacted Marco Fishing for assistance and the company soon heeded the councillor’s call by procuring and availing the computers to Nautilus Primary School.
During the handover Scholtz said it is always a great day when the plight of the Namibian child, especially in the field of education, is addressed.
Scholtz, who also attended Nautilus as a primary school pupil, said he holds the education of children and the youth dear to his heart, as education is the greatest equaliser.
Scholtz further explained that the donation has a threefold benefit, namely: responding to the Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP) by providing ICT facilities to schools, as well as supporting social progression by enabling children to have greater access to the world of information and by improving learners’ chances to attain a prosperous future.
Scholtz said the new computers would positively impact on the lives of the learners at Nautilus Primary School and in this vein he, called upon the teachers and learners of the school to ensure the computers are used for their intended purpose, which is to educate.
Principal Jakes Van Rooy applauded !Nami#nus Constituency Regional Council for its support and Marco Fishing for donating the computers to their school.
Van Rooy said it has been their dream as teachers at Nautilus Primary School to have computer access at their library, where the learners and teachers can search for relevant information.
Marco Fishing sales manager Kalsen Neliwa, also a former student of Nautilus Primary School, encouraged the learners to be diligent in their studies so that they are able to reach their goals in life.
