FNB the ‘best bank’ for six consecutive years

Home Business FNB the ‘best bank’ for six consecutive years

WINDHOEK – FNB Namibia was presented with the Bracken Award as the Best Bank in Namibia by The Banker Magazine in London on November 28, 2014. This is the sixth consecutive year that FNB Namibia has walked away with this prestigious accolade and the seventh time it was awarded to FNB Namibia.

The programme acknowledges and promotes industry wide excellence in the global banking community and international judges select only one winning bank for each country which is what makes The Banker ‘Country Bank of Year Award’ such a sought after award.

The Banker Magazine is a monthly international financial affairs publication owned by The Financial Times Ltd and edited in London.

The magazine was first published in January 1926 through founding editor Brendan Bracken of the Financial News, who went on to become the chairman of the Financial Times from 1945-1958. The best bank awards are named in honour of Brendan Bracken.

Since its founding, the magazine has claimed a dedication to the international perspective through features, interviews, multi-media applications and events.

The Banker is the world’s premier banking and finance resource, read in over 180 countries and is the key source of data and analysis for the industry.

The Banker Magazine reports: “Despite tough economic conditions, many banks around the world play a crucial role in the development of their markets and their clients’ businesses. The Banker celebrates such financial institutions with its Bank of the Year Awards 2014. Regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence, the awards were once again hotly contested by the world’s leading financial institutions. Judged on their ability to deliver shareholder returns and to gain strategic advantage, winners reap huge benefits in terms of market visibility and position.”

Ian Leyenaar, CEO of FNB Namibia was ecstatic with the achievement and said: “While other Namibian banks have won this award in the past, this is now the sixth year in a row that this great honour has been bestowed on FNB Namibia and this means that we are consistently and constantly delivering on our helpfulness, promises to staff, customers and all our stakeholders. To us this sixth year of success means that we have been the most successful in delivering on the important banking requirements, to all our shareholders, including shareholders, clients, staff, regulators, suppliers, and the broader Namibian community. In future, we will continue to build and enhance all our business plans to become even bigger and better for all our stakeholders on our journey of being the local world class financial services provider of choice in Namibia.”
