WINDHOEK – First National Bank (FNB) Namibia recently appointed a junior executive committee (Junior Exco) from young employees of the bank.
The committee will take responsibility and make proposals for the more effective implementation of the four pillars of FNB’s strategy, which focuses on service as the unique selling proposition.
FNB employees chose the 10-member committee from all business units and branches.
“They will report to our bank’s Senior Exco but are not part of the FNB Group Exco team. Membership of the Junior Exco creates an opportunity to develop future leaders who can aspire to senior leadership positions in our great bank.
“They will also look at specific projects such as our innovation initiatives, staff engagement initiatives, process improvements, social events, mentoring and training, values enhancements and much more,” said Ian Leyenaar, the Chief Executive Officer of FNB Namibia.
The members are Angelique Peake (chairperson), Linea Shitemba (secretariat), Desderius Afunde, Raymond Gariseb, Charmaine Mberira, Cynthia Mariine, Lavinia Shikongo, Reinette Vermeulen, Zico Maasdorp and Sydney Tjipuka. Criteria for nomination were that members should be 35 years of age or younger, from a variety of branches and business units and top performers with strong leadership skills.
Leyenaar said the gender-balanced Junior Exco would also be “an ear and a voice for our employees … and together we will find ways of resolving employee issues.”
Angelique Peake, the newly appointed chairperson of the Junior Exco said. “We aim to represent our peers in matters that need to be focused on and take on projects to lift our staff engagement to exciting levels. We’ll also strive to bring better communication, information and processes to colleagues by getting involved in numerous projects. All in all, we’ll embark on new projects together with everyone to create an environment where FNB will remain an employer of first choice,” she said.
