Food for the Soul from Hilma

Home Youth Corner Food for the Soul from Hilma

Life is meant to have disappointments, they are the speed humps that indicate that we need to slow down to reflect back, learn, appreciate and grow. But human beings are often vulnerable to hate and anger that when they spite something/ someone/ or themselves, they give it all the energy they have.

In a nutshell, we all have been hurt and have hurt other people. Sometimes we have hurt ourselves and we remind ourselves of the mistakes we have done 10yrs ago. Other times, we hold grudges to people for what they did while they were teens, and now they are in their 30s. That is not good for your health and your relationships.

You can turn your life around by choosing to forgive and move on. Talk to someone you trust about the heavy load you are carrying, believe me you will feel so relieved afterwards. You can also write your experiences on a piece of paper and tear them up to set yourself free. Learn to have inner dialogues and ask yourself what you have learned from the experience.

You cannot change the past but you can choose how you want to deal with it. Turn your mess into lessons and live your best life possible. Forgiveness is not a favour we do for the other person; it is a gift we give to ourselves, so it is all worth it.
