Hitman robbed of stylish win

OSHIKANGO – In an earlier post-fight interview, Namibia’s former world champion and current World Boxing Organisation (WBO) International Lightweight champion, Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses admitted that his 4th round technical victory against Argentinean opponent Jorge Rodriquez was a awful teaser as he was gunning for a ‘stylish win’.

Moses scored an easy victory against Rodriquez after the fight was stopped in the 4th round when Rodriquez suffered a bad gash on his left eye, leaving the referee with no option but to call off the fight and declare Moses the deserving winner, during the Oshikango Boxing Bonanza recently.

‘The Hitman’, who was in cruise control before the clash of heads, was unhappy with the manner in which the fight ended, saying: “I wanted to win with a knockout but not in this fashion. This guy has himself to blame because he was not fighting but just running around. I think that’s why the injury happened, as I was closing him down at all times.’.

In another fight, Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda was made to huff and puff on his way to a points victory against equally impressive Tshifiwa Munyai from South African, in a fight that had spectators on the edge of their seats as the fight would have either way.

Vikapita Meroro and Tineyi Maridzo’s Cruiserweight fight was cancelled after both boxers failed to meet the required weight limit of 90.70kg. Meroro weighed a staggering 95.35kg taking him above the required weight while Maridzo was declared underweight after hitting the scale at a petit 79.80kg.

Several other under cards, which entertained the crowd at Helao Nafidi Centre on the night.
