Home National Indian high commissioner completes mission

WINDHOEK – Namibia is keen to ensure its partnership with India is strengthened through trade, investment, energy and agriculture, said Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Morven Luswenyo.
He added that Namibia and India share a strong and historic friendship of solidarity, built on the bedrock of a common identity through their struggle for self-determination, as well as ideals and aspirations.

Luswenyo made the remarks during the farewell of India High Commissioner to Namibia Kumar Tuhin, who completed his three-year diplomatic tenure.

Luswenyo said the friendship between India and Namibia is underpinned by wide-ranging cooperation in the areas of human resources development, health, defence and cultural exchanges.

Tuhin has been posted as India’s ambassador to Hungary. He leaves Namibia by the end of next week.  At his farewell at the Indian High Commission, Tuhin said when he looks back at the three years, he feels a sense of great accomplishment.
Tuhin said he organised visits between delegates of the two countries, including visits by both the founding father of the nation, Sam Nujoma, and former president Hifikepunye Pohamba, respectively.

In addition, Tuhin said, the donation of ICT equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Services was completed, as well as the donation of essential medicine to Namibia, while setting up a centre of excellence in IT has made substantial progress.
He added that they also organised visits of many business delegations, set up new Indian investment here as well as set up the India Namibia Chamber of Commerce and industry.

“But the purpose of my speech today is not to list what I was able to accomplish in these three years, but to say thank you. My wife and I have been so touched by the goodwill and best wishes that we have received over the last few weeks,” said Tuhin
