After a challenging start to the Namibia Football Premier League (NPFL) season, Life Fighters FC is determined to fight for its survival in the country’s top-flight division.
The Otjiwarongo-based club currently sits 14th in the standings, having secured 13 points from 13 matches.
Their record so far includes three wins, six draws and five losses.
Director Kaupindirue Mulli Tjazerua confirmed that the team returned to training on 5 January 2026 to ensure they meet their goal of avoiding relegation.
“I think we are the only team in the league to resume training early, and that shows how important the task at hand is. We want to remain in the league despite the poor start this season,” he said.
The squad, affectionately known as ‘Kahirona’, has been bolstered by the return of captain Kavejama Kaujama and Shitembi Shitembi from injury.
“This is a major boost, as we struggled at the right and left back positions. We also need a striker to reinforce our attack upfront,” Tjazerua noted.
He emphasised that staying in the league is the top priority, requiring a collective effort from management, technical staff, players and fans.
“We are now busy with the survival plans, and we are focusing more on boosting players’ morale to start winning,” he added.
He further highlighted the club’s cultural significance, stating that Life Fighters FC’s presence in the premier league is vital to the Otjiwarongo community.
“This is a community-based team, and we have to fight for that. We are requesting businesses to come on board and play their part in supporting the team with whatever possible,” he said.
To test the players’ endurance during the break, the team recently hosted friendly matches against Northern Stream First Division side Khaibasen FC and second-division outfit Sundowns FC.
Life Fighters played to a 1-1 draw against Khaibasen before dominating Sundowns with a 5-0 victory.
“We are happy with the players’ progress, and we have planned friendly fixtures every weekend before the league resumes,” Tjazerua said.
He reassured supporters that the team’s internal hurdles are being addressed.
“The hiccups are being cleared, and people will see a different Life Fighters going forward,” he stated.
