Make-up is about a feminine statement!

Home Art Life  Make-up is about a feminine statement!

By Selma Neshiko

WINDHOEK– Most of the time comments about women who wear make-up have negative and less  encouraging in the least and at best destructive and with such comments including reference to such beauties as ‘try-hards’  putting  too much effort into their appearances.

But asking those doing make –up the question “ why women wear makeup?” you’ll get many different answers because everyone women have their own reasons for wearing such. Passionate about beauty, Maria Luisa da Silva, also known as Malu, is a qualified make-up artist and hair stylist, who has been the lady behind the make-up of some of our local artists like Blossom, Jericho, Caroline, last year’s Big Brother Africa winner, Dillish and various local models and actors. She makes time let the reader into the insights and insides of women make-up.

Really, we just do it for ourselves!

Make up has so much to do  with who you are,  what kind of work you do but all in there is nothing wrong  wearing some make- up.  You look polished, professional and it shows that you care about your appearance as long we treat make up as a tool, not as an essential. I love make-up and wear it practically every day, but I agree that the key is keeping it simply clean and naturally looking. We don’t need to wear full make-up every day, like a full eye design ,lots a shimmer glitters, heavy eye liner and so on, consider a simple look for your daily life.

To be expressive!

Image is a big part of marketing your self and getting the job you want. Our face is where people look when they want to know us or understand  us, so  we try to look the best we can, make- up is part of our groom, a bit of lipstick, mascara, eye pencil, blush won’t hurt  anyone. Some girls go for the natural look and others go for the dramatic, sexy look. More often than not, make-up says things about a woman they usually do not say on their own.

Confidence!

Some women know how they look with make-up and it gives them certain confidence. Women love looking good because looking good means feeling good. It gives some women that extra confidence that one needs once in a while.

Complexion!

Cosmetics or make- up are there to  enhance our natural beauty, they add a colour dimension to the face, not everyone has a great skin, long full lashes, perfect  eyebrows, rosy pink cheeks and so on.  A person just needs to know how to apply it, just don’t overdo it and end up looking like a clown. Most importantly make up is an art. For some expert tips and advice on what make-up is best for you, contact Malu at 0813400059.
