EENHANA – A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping his housemate, a young boy. Magistrate Ruben Hamunyera Mutuku delivered the sentence on Tuesday.  The victim was 12-years-old at the time. 

Luis Sapalo Antonio (30) committed this crime on 15 July 2021 in their homestead Oshomonghudi village.In mitigation, magistrate Mutuku said the victim is being bullied at school and he is always crying. He added that the victim is also not concentrating at school as he is traumatised, therefore, this rape incident still disturbs the victim’s mind. Antonio was a domestic worker in the house where the victim resided.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man, Simon Haimbodi was sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison for killing his biological brother.

The incident happened at Ombumbuu village in the Ohangwena region on 4 April 2021.

Haimbodi was charged with are murder read with the Domestic Violence Act.

In 2021, Haimbodi allegedly slit the throat of his brother with a knife.

The deceased, Jonas Haimbodi, was also assaulted with a steel hammer on the forehead and died at Katutura Hospital in Windhoek.
