With the recent addition of a third channel, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) is most certainly doing the most, continuously informing the masses about current and international affairs, and entertaining them with movies and documentaries.
The NBC3 channel launched earlier this week is geared towards entertaining viewers through the promotion of local and international content, while exposing Namibians to high-quality productions that speak to the audience.
NBC director general Stanley Similo said at the official launch of the NBC3 channel earlier this week it has always been about giving viewers and listeners a choice. “We are not here to compete or outpace anyone; we are running our race. When it comes to local content, nothing beats the NBC, “Similo told VIBEZ!
In partnership with MultiChoice Namibia, NBC3 will run on DStv channel 287 and GOtv channel 93.
Similio further said the collaboration comes with the realisation that the national broadcaster needs to address and cater to viewers in places they cannot reach.“As a public broadcaster, there are certain areas that we cannot get, and MultiChoice has come in as an appropriate partner that can help us to grow our reach, because remember, they are on DTH, which is known as a satellite and their coverage is immediate throughout the whole country,” he said.
NBC3 is the premier entertainment channel, carrying 98% movies, telenovelas and reality shows as well as documentaries, and other content that promotes local and international tourism in a variety of languages. NBC1 is the principal channel for current affairs programmes, while NBC2 primarily covers international news content.
On his part, MultiChoice’s Roger Gertze said local broadcasters are the grassroots of the TV industry and with NBC3 now available on the platform, they are responding to the ongoing consumer demand for quality local entertainment, with ongoing efforts to bring the best in entertainment.
