WINDHOEK – President-elect and Swapo Vice-President Dr Hage Geingob said ‘I do’ to his businesswoman fiancée Monica Kalondo, now Geingos, at a private wedding ceremony on Saturday, Valentine’s Day, at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.
The father of the bride, Tate Salomo Kalondo, gave away the bride, while Reverend Ngeno Nakamhela of Windhoek’s Inner City Lutheran Church solemnised the marriage.
The couple, that is to be Namibia’s first family come March 21 when Geingob is inaugurated as the President of the Republic, exchanged vows in front of their family and friends in a private wedding ceremony whose details were kept under wraps.
Even the location, the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino, was kept a secret, under the dupe that the wedding would take place at a lodge outside Windhoek, as the couple were steadfast in hosting a non-public affair “as that aspect of our relationship is private”.
The couple also said having a wedding celebration “with a large number of guests would not correctly reflect our priorities”.
