WINDHOEK-The National Youth Service (NYS)’s 2014 intake application forms will be available for collection at all constituency offices country-wide from Monday.

Youths that are interested in joining the Service are advised to submit their application forms February14 which is the deadline. They must be Namibian citizen and at least 16 years of age and not older than 35 years old. Formal school certification for technical trades with required points is must but the youth entering the Service are not compelled to be in possession of a formal school certificate. However exception should be made for specific programmes of the Service that require youth to achieve a certain level of education.

Those applying must be willing to go for a medical test, excluding HIV and AIDS, to undergo a pregnancy test, in case of female applicants. Applicants must not be convicted of any criminal offence such as  rape, fraud, murder, robbery, house breaking, treason, sedition, kidnapping, culpable homicide, bestiality, public violence, indecent assault, sodomy, assault-when a dangerous wound is inflicted, forgery or altering a forged document, offences relating to coinage, escaping from lawful custody, receiving stolen property knowingly it has been stolen, and any conspiracy, incitement or attempt to commit any offence referred to in this schedule.

The National Youth Service is a youth empowerment institution which provides the Namibian youth with a three phase training programme, Civic Training, Voluntary Service and Skills Training. The NYS training is offered free.  Further enquiries can be directed to 061-415500/415507.
