EENHANA – The Ohangwena Women Football League is set to kick off its 2025/2026 season today at the Eenhana stadium, promising an exciting display of women’s football in the region.

The chairperson of Ohangwena Women Football executive committee, Elia Vilho, said that the opening matches will start at 08h00, marking the official launch of the league under the governance of the Ohangwena Women Football executive committee, regulated by the Namibia Football Association (NFA). Vilho added that the league comes at a crucial time for women’s football in Namibia, a sport that has historically faced cultural, social, and economic challenges.  “Players often struggle to find platforms to showcase their talent due to limited resources, low-standard facilities, and a lack of media coverage. Through this league, we hope to provide girls with a platform to shine, inspire others, and develop their skills,” Vilho said.

Vilho urged the public and sponsors to come and support the players.  “Your presence and coverage can be a voice for the girl child, encouraging young girls to pursue their passion for football and challenge societal barriers,” he said.

The league will run until July 2026, with teams competing for regional supremacy and the chance to represent Ohangwena at national women’s football tournaments.
