Pick n Pay (PnP) Namibia spread its wings even further when it opened a new store in Outapi yesterday, less than two months after the opening of PnP Ondangwa.
Financial Director of PnP Namibia, Waldemar von Lieres, said: “Being in the community is important to PnP Namibia, not only because it enhances the sustainability of the business, but also because we are committed to providing our customers with the best experience, while making a difference in the communities and the country at large. This milestone, the opening of our Outapi store, is testimony to our commitment to serve. We look forward to even more new PnP branches in Namibia.”
Von Lieres stressed the importance for PnP Namibia to contribute to the growth and well-being of the communities in which it operates, and announced that PnP Outapi has already committed itself to support the Anamulenge Primary School, as part of its opening celebration.
Von Lieres added: “We chose Anamulenge Primary School because PnP believes that educational support is one of the fundamental ways we can live our Group’s purpose ‘Creating a Future, Enhancing Life’ – to create a tangible positive impact in our country. We aim to build a long-term relationship with the school and learners and will start our commitment with stationery packs and basic food items.”
The Principal of Anamulenge Primary School, Ruben Ishitile, expressed excitement over this donation by PnP Outapi.
Ishitile said: “It makes me very happy. This help by Pick n Pay will not only make a huge difference in the lives of the OVC, but in that of the whole school. Teachers and the community are very happy about this.”
The Outapi branch will employ 45 Namibians, which brings the current number of people employed by PnP Namibia close to 2 400.
