The Namibian Police in the Kavango West region intercepted a large consignment of cannabis during a stop-and-search operation at Nankudu village on Friday.
In the process, two Angolan nationals were arrested.
NamPol’s Kavango West regional commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, said the Angolans, a 36-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, were allegedly found in possession of cannabis weighing 11.94 kg at around 17h00, with the illicit goods carrying a value of N$597 000.
“This interception is a testament to our ongoing commitment to removing illicit substances from our streets,” Sakuwa-Neo stated.
However, the police were not done. Hours later, at roughly 23h00, officers moved on a tip-off at the Karanawa location in Nkurenkuru. There, they apprehended a 47-year-old Namibian male who was found in possession of cannabis plants.
All three suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Nkurenkuru Magistrate’s Court today.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue providing information on criminal activities via NamPol’s official channels.
