RUNDU – A 21-year-old woman was gang raped at Rundu at midnight last week Thursday and the police have since arrested three men suspected of carrying out the crime.

The three men are set to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court today. The suspects are aged 17, 19 and 24 and are all residents of Rundu. It is alleged that the suspects forced the victim onto the ground, threatened to stab her with a knife and took turns to rape her.

The incident is said to have taken place near Peace Garden Bar in town. In another incident, police report that on Thursday last week at around 20h00, a 12-year-old girl was raped by an acquaintance, who lives in the same house as herself. The victim and the suspect are both learners at the same school in Nkurenkuru.

According to the Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton, the suspect called the victim to his room and forced her to have sex with him without her consent. The suspect, whose age is not yet known, will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court today.
