ABAN Gets Cash Boost
By Lynette Kozosi Windhoek PointBreak Namibia last week handed over N$12 000 to the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants in Namibia (ABAN) as part of their social responsibility in the quest to promote an entrepreneurial spirit in the Namibian youth. PointBreak deals with debt and equity operations, investments and treasury services to the Namibian market. The donation will be used to assist ABAN towards administrative expenses for a 12-month tenure, facilitating a N$1 000 monthly wage to a student expected to run the office of ABAN. ABAN has been in existence for the past eight years and was founded by black accountants to increase awareness, and assist and promote the accounting profession amongst the previously disadvantaged groups in Namibia. ABAN also introduced a new executive committee that consists of representatives from different accounting professions and one student representative.
