Agra retail prepares biggest branch ever
Windhoek Agra Retail has started preparing for the opening of their biggest ever retail branch at the Agra Hyper complex in Windhoek’s Lafrenz Industrial area on Monday, July 20. A mammoth task lies ahead for the various teams to prepare and stock the Agra retail store with a floor area of 3 250m²; the feeds and licks store of 2 617m², bulk storage yard of 4 000m² and install the equipment for at least twenty points of sale. Most of the shelves have already been installed in the retail store, with total shelf length spanning about 800m and corridor space of 2m between shelves. “We realise the magnitude of the job that lies ahead,” says Tobie Barlow, Agra retail operations manager. “However, the kind of products and service offering we will be able to deliver through these facilities motivate us and will keep us going for the challenging time ahead.” The retail head office staff already moved into their new offices at Agra Hyper on Monday June15, 2015. The new branch will also offer clients an extended range of products and exciting new ranges. Additions to this branch’s product offering is the DIY Depot, weapons, ammunition and reloading division, outdoor equipment, hardware & building, power tools, home décor, electrical and plumbing. Andries van der Merwe, who has been manager at two Agra branches and for the past year at the Windhoek retail branch, will take over the position of branch manager at the new branch. A number of employees have been transferred from the branch at Auas Valley to the branch at Agra Hyper, while a large number of new employees will take up employment in the next month to be trained in their respective fields of service. The establishment of this branch has created jobs for 150 Namibians. Besides plenty of space to move and shop, Agra Hyper offers clients free parking on the premises, which is entirely enclosed in security fencing; Bean Juice Coffee Shop, a restaurant with a beautiful view; wheelchair access to the branch and designated parking bays for vehicles with trailers. With a dedicated road and platform for delivery vehicles and a well-planned parking area with 150 parking bays on the retail side of the building, there will be no traffic flow problems. The Agra branch in the Auas Valley Shopping Mall will continue with its services to the farmers and the general public. Another facelift for this branch is also on the cards for the next phase of the upgrade to the Auas Valley Shopping Mall.
