Allegiance with Cadilu Fishing to advance football

A delegation from Namibia led by sports minister Agnes Tjongarero is presently in Madrid, Spain, touring the Real Madrid Foundation’s Football School as part of the agreement signed with Cadilu Fishing on behalf of the Real Madrid Foundation.

The ministry signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Cadilu Fishing Ltd at the beginning of this year to fund the establishment of school football leagues through the Real Madrid Foundation Programme.

This partnership seeks to advance football and establish sports clinics in Namibia for boys and girls between the ages of six to 16 years, as well as provide technical support and skills transfer on the setting-up of sports clinics.

These clinics will be held in May in Keetmanshoop and Gobabis, and in October in Opuwo and Eenhana.

The delegation includes the executive director of sport Mbumba Haitengela, youth officer in the ministry Dawid Gawaseb, Roger Kambatuku from the Namibia Schools Sports Union, senior sports officer and project manager in the ministry Timothy Tjongarero as well as Jessica Gamuses, Tjongarero’s personal assistant.

Haitengela noted that the Real Madrid team has already conducted these types of clinics last year in Rundu and Otjiwarongo and will extend them.

“Our purpose of this important visit is to meet the senior management of the foundation, to conduct physical site visits to schools and high-performance centres in Madrid, and to also engage local coaches and management as to how we are going to work together to continue operating the projects, and how to plan on the set-up of high-performance centres,” said Haitengela.
