Another horse race set for Tsjaka in November

After hosting a successful second edition of the MTC Winter Cup Saturday in Rehoboth, president of the Namibia Horse Racing Association (NHRA), Marthinus de Waal says they are now looking forward to hosting another race in November this year.

Touching on coming events for this year’s horse racing calendar, the president said the association’s next big event is slated for Tsjaka in the Omaheke region in November, and he expects the race to be bigger and better.

“We had a discussion with MTC and we have decided to host more races. It will happen later this year. It was set to take place in Okondjatu but it has since been moved to a new venue and that’s Tsjaka,” explained De Waal.

De Waal reflected on the success of the MTC Winter Cup, saying it lived up to the expectations of the organisers, particularly the overall performances of the horses in various categories.

“I am very satisfied with the race. Overall everything went very well. We had the veterinary services present at the race and they are all satisfied with the welfare of the horses that were registered, which shows that we are on track. It was a tough competition but all the horses performed very well,” he said.
