APP admits things aren’t well

Acting All People’s Party president Erastus Nangolo Shuumbwa says he is disappointed to witness the resignation of yet another key official within his party.

This is after youth league president Fredirick ‘Muhammed’ Kawana delivered his resignation letter to him on Monday, claiming that the party is being led with corrupted, hidden agendas.

Kawana has been the APP youth president for the past four years.

The erstwhile APP youth leader noted that he has discerned that the “APP organisation has no ground and vision for the youth and for the people of Namibia”.

“The term that I have served as youth president was so much discouraging, though this position helped me find out
the whole weakness of this organisation, with many corrupted, hidden agendas.
This seeks to destroy the leadership potential of many young ones, and the hierarchy is filled with hegemonies. I am very wise enough to resign without any regrets because we youths are not being considered in decision-making in the party,” he stated.

“Frankly, I’m a religious person, and I have noticed the ideology and policies of the APP are developed against my ethics and religious beliefs. I am clearly aware of how the upcoming leadership will be, and the hidden agenda which is currently in progress to implement and accomplish this hegemonic agenda, which will be to the jeopardy of the party’s status and image,” he noted.

Shuumbwa was downcast, saying: “I am so disappointed to see the resignation of the youth president, but I understand. To be honest, things are not well somehow within our party, and that is the reason why some people are resigning like that”.

In August, erstwhile APP secretary general Vinsent Kanyetu resigned from the party, stating that the party was busy with agendas he did not side with, and contrary to his cultural and Christian beliefs.

When asked how prepared the party was for the 2024 presidential and national elections, Shuumbwa again sounded unsure.

“The party needs to go back to the drawing board, but it is worrisome. I don’t want to lie; it is very worrisome. You know we are living in democratic times, where people cannot be dictated to. People come to politics to find solutions to different issues and matters, and if we are losing that, then they will leave,” he said.
