Baby Warriors face Botswana tomorrow
Windhoek The Baby Warriors – Namibia’s Under-17 national team - will take on Botswana in the first round 1st leg match of the 2017 CAF Under-17 African Cup of Nations tomorrow in a curtain-raiser at 14h00, ahead of the Cosafa Castle Cup Plate final at Sam Nujoma Stadium. The two junior sides meet a week after their seniors met in the Cosafa Castle Cup quarterfinal match, which Botswana won 5-4 on penalties after a one-all draw at the same venue last Saturday. The Baby Warriors will be out to avenge the defeat of their seniors, the Brave Warriors, and to compensate for their early exit from the Cosafa Cup at the hands of Botswana, but interim coach and NFA technical director Timo Tjongarero reckons it will not be an easy task. “The boys have so much pressure [on them] now that the Brave Warriors lost, but we will go about our business and make sure we get a good result at the end of the day. “A win will be very important for us heading into the second leg, which takes place in about a week’s time and we will try our best to appease the nation. “The boys are young and most of them have not yet fully played international football before, but we have prepared them to be mentally and tactically fit for the match,” said Tjongarero.
