BreakFree youth clinic opens soon

Safe space… Cuban first lady Lis Cuesta Peraza (green dress) during her recent visit to the adolescent-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) clinic that is opening tomorrow at the Katutura Youth Complex. This #BreakFree Youth Clinic is a world-class facility that offers accessible and holistic sexual reproductive health services in an environment that values confidentiality, and that is neither intimidating nor judgmental – a place where young people will feel comfortable and respected. It is part of the youth campus, which occupies various other activities, aimed at creating a safe space for young Namibians to express themselves freely in a non-judgemental environment. The centre, dubbed #BeFree Cares: Adolescent-friendly SRHR Clinic, will serve youth between the ages of 13 and 30 to help address the fragmented nature of healthcare services by creating a one-stop shop that offers integrated, adolescent-friendly healthcare as well as psychosocial support services. Additionally, the clinic will also boast an experienced, case-sensitive, diverse multi-disciplinary team that will create an enabling environment for quality SRHR, psychosocial support and mental services. Furthermore, the clinic is grounded on the overarching goals of prevention of diseases and issues around mental health, provision of SRHR services, gender-based violence and femicide support, as well as empowering mindsets. The clinic falls under the #BeFree movement of the One Economy Foundation, which resides within the Office of the First Lady Monica Geingos.  Photo: One Economy Foundation
