KEETMANSHOOP - Keetmanshoop Agricultural and Industrial Trade Expo vice president Karl Heinz Burger said the aim of hosting the expo was not to make a profit.

“All the gate entrance fees have been used to pay for logistics like cleaning and security services, as well as other related miscellaneous expenses,” he elucidated when asked about the outcome of the recent expo.

Burger said the main objective of the 2023 Keetmanshoop Agricultural and Industrial Trade Expo (Kaite) was to provide local entrepreneurs with the ideal opportunity to showcase and sell their products, as well as build up a future clientele base to expand their businesses.

“In addition, we also allow the agriculture, tourism and industrial sectors to come on board and market themselves more vigorously. As a very first and in our aim to recognise all cultures and traditions, we had an Afrikaans comedy night with Afrikaans country and traditional ‘Boere’ music,” he beamed.

 The expo also provides a platform for residents to take a break from their daily lives, and come to enjoy and relax.

Justifying the entrance fee increases for some days, he said, “During the rugby and volleyball games, comedy night and music bash, we had to pay the local music artists, comedians and other players for their performances, hence the increase at the gates.” 

The Kaite executive then expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards all sponsors, exhibitors, volunteer Kaite staff and visitors for their meaningful contributions because without their inputs, the event could not have been such a success.
