" WINDHOEK It is official South African expatriate rapper, Jonathan Butler and Hip Hop Pantsular (HHP), will be  headlining the capital and country main line entertainment event, the Windhoek Jazz Festival. This good news heralding the autumn and something surely many a music lov was officially announced at the launch of one of Namibian’s premier entertainment event  at the Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino (former Kalahari Sands). With amazing talent, music and ambiance lined up, followers can expect amazing performers and a full music festival experience. Windhoek Mayor, Muesee Kazapua, in front of an ever guessing crowd of  interests groups and the media,  unveiled the international and local artists who will be entertaining Jazz fans, come the evening of  October 24 at the Hage Geingob Stadium. He underlined the importance and the power of music, saying that music plays a major role in any one’s life making it magical and meaningful, but also relating society intimately to it. “The increased availability of music in our lives seems to be encouraging us to use music to manipulate our own moods, reduce stress, alleviate boredom while undertaking tedious or repetitive tasks, and create environments appropriate for particular kinds of social occasion. In short, music is being used by individuals to enhance the quality of their lives”. Jonathan Butler is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music is often classified as R&B, jazz fusion or worship music. Born and raised in Athlone, Cape Town, South Africa, Butler started singing and playing acoustic guitar as a child. Racial segregation and poverty during Apartheid has been the subject of many of his songs. Jonathan’s first single broke down racial barriers, becoming the first song by a black artist to be played by white radio stations in Apartheid South Africa. His commitment to his craft paid off with his self-titled debut album, which received a Grammy nomination for the pop hit Lies. The second international act gracing the Jazz festival is popularly known for his ingenious musical rhymes. Hip Hop Pantsula is a renowned South African Motswako rapper who frequently performs in ethnic languages. He delivers a richly satisfying listening experience with his ability to rhymes off his tongue and creates a rhythmical melody with words. He is drawn to musical genres such as Funk, Soul, Urban and vocally driven pop songs – as well as his increasingly visible affection for traditional music, which is highly evident in his music. The festival’s line-up further boasts with well- known local musicians such as Fu Jazz All Stars, Lize Ehlers, Sean K, Dixon and Zen-zo who will perform alongside the South African stars. The City organises the festival with the support of Windhoek Lager, Air Namibia, 99 FM, Jameson, Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino and Ad Force. Tickets will only be available from Computicket outlets countrywide for N$250 in advance and no tickets will be sold at the gates. "
