Cenored token identifier software upgrading commences

OTJIWARONGO – The Central-North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) last week officially started its electricity Token Identifier (TID) campaign for the Otjozondjupa, Kunene, Omaheke and Oshikoto regions.

Cenored public relations officer Chali Matengu in a media statement said the commencement of the TID campaign will entail the installation of prepaid electricity meter systems in customers’ houses before November 2024.

“We, therefore, wish to appeal to all our prepaid meter customers to cooperate with our TID electricians by granting them access to their premises so that they can come in to upgrade and update your electricity prepaid meter systems,” he said.

Matengu stated that the TID upgrading campaign will be held under the theme, ‘Get your prepaid meter updated, don’t be left in the dark’.

The project is targeting about 55 000 prepaid meters in Otjozondjupa, Kunene, Omaheke and certain parts of Oshikoto.

“The software programme running these electricity prepaid meters worldwide will expire on 24 November 2024. Therefore, Cenored is joining the rest of the world in updating and upgrading its electricity prepaid meters. So, please take part in the project,” said Matengu.

Cenored electricians will conduct the exercise and will be identified through their Cenored TID branded vehicles, attire and identification cards.

Prepared electricity token systems not upgraded during this timeframe will stop operating after 24 November 2024, he reiterated. - Nampa
