Miss Teen Namibia, Chanique Rabe,  has brought home the title of Miss Teen Continent – and like all of the contestants before her – plans to use her crown to foster change and spread awareness.

Scores of beautiful teens from all over the world recently competed for the crown, and among them was Chanique. Besides winning the coveted title, she was also chosen as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants and also won Best Evening Gown at the pageant.

“From the time I was crowned Miss Teen Namibia my passion has been to help young girls in Namibia to be the best they can be. I plan to continue this campaign and to convince young girls between four and 19 years to enter the next Miss Teen Namibia pageant to be held on October 3, Miss Pre-Teen Namibia, Little Miss Namibia and Little Miss Petite Namibia pageants. These pageants help girls develop self-confidence and teach them to be gracious and stylish,” she says.

Born and bred in the capital, 18-year-old Chanique is currently in her last year of schooling at the Windhoek Afrikaans Private School. After that, she plans to study fashion in Cape Town. Chanique adds that winning the title came as a surprise to her, but will make use of her title to facilitate change among young women.

“I want to empower girls to believe in themselves. I believe that you can’t be beautiful from the outside if you are not beautiful from the inside. Believe in yourself and remember your morals and integrity. With that you can reach any goal. Always set your goals higher than you expect and always enjoy and have fun,” she says.

Chanique, who is the SOS children’s village ambassador, is not a first timer on the modelling scene as she has previously won Miss Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP) and was also chosen as the “Face of Queen Spark 2015”. She aims to promote pageantry in Namibia because of its advantages and will continue with modeling and pageantry during her studies.

Entries for Miss Teen Namibia are currently open and she encourages all teens to take part in the pageant. Entries form are available on the Miss Teen Namibia official website: www.MissTeenNamibia.com
