Chrizelda George takes over as Walvis Bay airport manager
Windhoek The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has confirmed the appointment of Chrizelda Natasha George as airport manager for Walvis Bay International Airport, effective as of February 8. George is a Namibian citizen with eight years’ experience in civil aviation, ranging from commercial pilot, air traffic operations, airport certification and surveillance to approval of airport manuals and safety management systems. Before joining NAC, George worked for the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as a senior aerodrome (airport) inspector from January 2015 where she primarily assisted with the implementation of the Namibia aviation regulatory provisions related to operations and licensing of aerodromes and heliports. George worked for the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA) between September 2011 and December 2014 as an aerodrome inspector and also worked as an air traffic controller for DCA before becoming an inspector. NAC CEO Tamer EL-Kallawi welcomed George. “Ms George is very enthusiastic about airport operations and we are excited about having her on our management team. She has over the years proven to be a reliable person and we are confident she can add value to our operations, especially at Walvis Bay International Airport,” said EL-Kallawi. George is equally excited about joining NAC. “It is another opportunity for me to grow in this career and the challenge that awaits is encouraging for me to work hard and plant a seed of success. My experiences from being a regulator will come in handy and I’m sure with all the necessary support we can deliver for Namibia’s prosperity,” said George. George will be reporting to strategic executive, Leonard Shipuata, who heads the Business Unit Two at NAC, which includes Walvis Bay International, Ondangwa and Eros airports, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Keetmanshoop and Luderitz airports.
