RUNDU - A 45-year-old man, Frans Manhik Mwapenzo from Sauyemwa location in Rundu, was granted bail of N$9 000 when he appeared in court on a case of dealing in cannabis (dagga).

He made his first routine court appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court yesterday. 

Mwapenzo was arrested during a police operation at Halili village in the Kavango West, after he was found in possession of 20 parcels of cannabis weighing roughly eight kilogrammes, with a street value of N$87 900.

He appeared before Rundu magistrate Barry Mufana on a charge of dealing in a dependence-producing substance (cannabis).

 He was warned to appear before the court at 08h00 on his next appearance, which was set for 18 August this year.

 The consequences were clearly explained in case he decides not to show up. 

Mwapenzo’s case was postponed for further investigations and for the accused to apply for legal aid.
