With music, food and entertainment festivals flourishing around the country, the Choto community in Katima Mulilo will not be left out as a free festival is heading their way.

Adding a twist to how festivals are run, Siyaya Alexander Sikalumbu, also known as DJ Siya, will make the Choto Fun Day and Music Festival on 17 December free of charge for festivalgoers to attend and vendors to set up stalls.

“We have been making events in Katima, where we ask for entry fees. So, this one is for our people. This is something we have been planning to do for our community, especially all the street vendors in Katima Mulilo so that we can all have a platform to sell and have fun at the same time,” said DJ Siya

The event is set to bring together families in order to have fun, and allow SMEs to showcase their products in a hive of entertainment, with artists from the region providing entertainment.

“This event is anticipated to be a huge success, bringing together more than 2 000 families for a day filled with happiness, entertainment and fun.”

Siya said the dusty streets of Choto raised him, and he paid homage to the industrious men and women who feed and raise families with almost nothing in their pockets.

“With the Choto Compound Fun Day, we want to bring all these elements together. We want to celebrate families, we want to celebrate our community, and we want to celebrate the men and women who work hard every day to provide for us. We want to provide a platform for them to showcase their goods and services. We want to have a day that celebrates, commemorates and pays homage to the giants we have grown to be.”

In addition, the fun day is a way for DJ Siya to thank the people for their support in his career, saying as a well-known personality, one has to humble yourself.

He then appealed for support from the business community to come on board as this will benefit the families in Katima Mulilo, the entire Zambezi region and beyond.

“We invite you all for a memorable day; let’s go early because the event will end at 19h00. The Choto Fun Day is for everyone,” he added.

For more information and those who would want to be part of the event, they can reach his team on 0814250816, or on his social media handles.
