Exciting netball at Patrick Iyamboo …as MTC NNPL continues

After almost a month since the second leg resumed, Windhoek's netball fans can finally brace themselves for some top-flight league action as the MTC Netball Namibia Premier League (NNPL) brings its games to the capital. Action is set to kick off tomorrow, with the opening match between Tigers and Northern Fly Ballers scheduled at 09h00, followed by a clash between Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) and Otjozondjupa Nampol at 10h30.

At 12h00, Afrocat Lions will grace the courts against the coastal outfit Eleven Arrows before the newly-promoted side, Wanderers, face off against Northern Fly Ballers at 13h30.

Afrocat Lions coach Dimitri Bittler spoke to this publication yesterday, expressing expectations of a challenging weekend, as the games are expected to be tough. "We are fully prepared for this weekend; each player is expected to give their all, as we are fighting for maximum points. With the league heading towards the finals, safety for every team is not guaranteed. Hence, we must ensure we collect maximum points in every game we play," he said.

Regarding the team's preparation, Bittler mentioned they had a good training session this week, and all the players are in good shape.

On Sunday, action will continue with NCS facing off against Northern Fly Ballers at 08h00, followed by Wanderers squaring off against Eleven Arrows around 10h00.

Tigers will then take on Otjozondjupa Nampol at 11h30, while the weekend will culminate with a match between NCS and Afrocat Lions at 13h00.

Absalom Mushaandja, sports administrator at NSC, acknowledged the number of games is substantial, but he reassured they would manage to honor their contract with the NNPL.

"It's a lot of games, but we have a contractual obligation with the NNPL, and I am confident that we will successfully play all five matches," he said.
