2013-08-28Staff Report 2 WALVIS BAY – A person was stabbed to death in an incident that spoiled the relatively crime-free long weekend at the coastal towns of Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Henties Bay. According to the Erongo regional police, a young man of 26 years was stabbed to death during an altercation in a bar in Henties Bay. The suspect, aged 21 years, was arrested and appeared in court yesterday. According to the police report, it is alleged the suspect entered the bar with his brother and saw the deceased dancing with a female in the bar. The suspect’s brother then approached the deceased and his female companion and attempted to separate the two from each other, when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the deceased in the left shoulder. The incident took place on the evening of Saturday at around 23:44, according to the Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa. An armed robbery took place at a gambling house in the Narraville area, Walvis Bay, on Sunday morning at around 11:00. It is alleged the thieves posed as gamblers, but after a while reached for a gun and pointed it to the barman while he was busy counting money. The robbers escaped with N$12 000.
