2015-06-10Staff Report 2 Windhoek Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service Agnes Tjongarero recently received sports equipment from a visiting delegation from the SADC Parliamentary Group of the German Parliament. The delegation, led by member of parliament Dagmar Freitag, visited Namibia recently to reciprocate a visit by the Namibian-German Friendship Group of the Namibian Parliament to Germany in 2013. Other members of the delegation were Frank Heinrich, Veronika Bellmann, Ingrid Pahlman, Steffen-Claudio Lemme, and Tabea Rößner. During the visit, the delegation met the Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, and several senior ministers, high-ranking government officials and the leader of the official opposition party in the august house Hon McHenry Venaani. The talks focused on the future of German-Namibian relations, specifically in the areas of development co-operation and education, especially technical and vocational training and education. The entourage also familiarised itself with the economic and social situation in Namibia. They also visited the Goethe-Centre and met representatives of German political foundations and cultural organisations in Namibia. This was followed by another visit to a school at Omitara, one of the projects financed through the Namibian-German Special Initiative. Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Hon Kilus Nguvauva, who also doubles as the regional councillor of the Steinhausen Constituency, welcomed the delegation at Omitara. 2015-06-10Staff Report 2
