2015-09-10Staff Report 2 Windhoek A resident of Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, who stands accused of the gruesome murder of his wife on Monday, appeared in the Gobabis Magistrate’s court on Tuesday. Wilhelm Saul, aged 39, stands accused of stabbing his wife of nine years and hacking her to death with an axe on Monday, after he accused her of “cheating”. The accused was refused bail on account of the seriousness of the charges he faces. It is understood that his wife, Ingenesia Saul, 37, died from a fatal stabwound and cut to the head. Omaheke regional police commander Commissioner Josephat Abel said the horrific incident took place at Epako at Damara Location in Gobabis at around 10h00 on Monday. Ingenesia Saul’s dead body was found in a family house in Epako later that day. According to Commissioner Abel,the woman’s head was nearly severed from her body and she suffered multiple stab wounds on various parts of her body. Abel said the accused was arrested the very same day and is currently in the holding cells. “We understand that a fight broke out between the couple after the husband allegedly found an SMS from another man,” Abel said, adding that the woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the family home. When asked whether the murder weapons have been recovered yet, the commissioner snapped: “What does that have to do with the media? Are you the investigating officer? That has nothing to do with you.” The police could also not immediately confirm how many children the couple had. The case was postponed to October 31. 2015-09-10Staff Report 2
