WALVIS BAY - Erongo region reigned supreme for exemplary service and commitment to healthcare excellence during the regional healthcare excellence awards. 

The awards aim to encourage health professionals at public health facilities to go the extra mile in making Namibians access and receive quality healthcare services in their hour of need. 

The awards were presented during the annual national pharmaceutical services' forum that took place in Walvis Bay last
week.

Speaking during the ceremony, deputy health minister EstherMuinjangue said it has become a tradition to reward best- performing regions and health facilities for their exemplary
efforts to provide services to Namibians.

“Your dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed. Let these achievements serve as both recognition of your hard work, and motivation for every facility to aspire to the highest standards in delivering quality services to the Namibian population,” Muinjangue, a social worker by training, said. 

Meanwhile, the Oshana region secured second place, while the Khomas region took the third spot for maintaining high healthcare standards.

The Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital stood out as the leading healthcare institution, followed by the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital in second place.  

The Swakopmund District Hospital secured third place for the hospital’s consistent delivery of quality healthcare services.

Grootfontein District Hospital was selected as the most improved hospital for its significant strides in enhancing healthcare provision, while the Hardap region was selected as the most improved region for these remarkable progress in advancing healthcare services.
