Kasaona pursues Caf B licence course

FORMER Brave Gladiators captain and coach Uerikondjera ‘Mammie’ Kasaona has been offered an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in the upcoming Confederation of African Football (Caf) B Diploma Course in Tanzania.

The first module will run for 10 days from 25 March to 3 April 2024, and the second module for 10 days while the third module will be for six days. The dates for the last two modules are yet to be confirmed.

In an interview with New Era Sport, Kasaona said she was elated with the news, as this provides her with an opportunity to upgrade her qualifications.

“Such an opportunity is a rare occurrence, as it does not happen very often. I am looking forward to it.

I have been sitting with my C licence, which I got in Germany in 2011. Now this is a lifetime opportunity to upgrade,” Kasaona said.

However, she is facing the mammoth task of raising N$37 320 (US$2 000) for course registration, airfares, accommodation, and meals, as none of this is covered by the Tanzania Football Federation.

The amount covers the course fee, equipment, and two meals per day during the course.

Participants must provide their own supper and accommodation and are required to possess a laptop or tablet for use during theory and practical sessions during the course.

“I received the letter today (yesterday) informing me that I have been accepted to participate in this course. Currently, Namibia does not qualify to host this advanced course, hence the need for Namibians to go to countries like Zambia, Botswana, and Tanzania.

This means one must spend on travel, accommodation, and food. I am therefore appealing to good Samaritans to help me realise the opportunity to improve my coaching skills,” she pleaded.

The former Gladiators star is the owner of Kasaona Football Academy, which boosts U/9 to U/19 age groups in the famed MTC HopSol Junior Leagues.

She is also a part-time player and coach of Girls and Goals in the FNB Women’s Soccer League.
