Keimuine replaces Botes ahead of Cosafa Cup clash
Windhoek Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti earlier this week flew in Tura Magic promising young striker Itamunua Keimuine to replace veteran goal-poacher Henrico Botes as Namibia finalize preparations for their kickoff to the 2015 Cosafa Cup in South Africa tomorrow. Keimuine takes the place of Botes who was not released by his South African club Bidvest Wits after the club argued that the Cosafa Cup tournament does not fall on FIFA dates and that they had no obligation to release him. The Tura Magic youngster joins the rest of the team for the training camp at the Pretoria High Performance Centre and is expected to add value to the attacking department of the Brave Warriors. Meanwhile, nine more players will join up with the Brave Warriors on Friday in Johannesburg before Mannetti’s charges depart for Moruleng, North West Province, for their first game against the Seychelles on Saturday at 15h00. Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Charles Uirab and defender Brain Gurirab will make the trip and so will Tigers defender Benjamin Nenkavu. The Black Africa trio of Dynamo Fredericks, Willy Stephanus and Heinrich Isaacks were also called up and so were Tura Magic’s defensive pair Tiberius Lombard and Charles Hambira, and African Stars defender Ferdinand Karongee. These players, together with Keimuine, are the 10 players chosen by Mannetti as backup to the 20-man squad he announced last week for the Cosafa Cup. Benson Shilongo is expected to join the team after his last Botswana Premiership match tomorrow afternoon. The Gaborone United player recently led his side to the Top 8 victory and top-scored with five goals. United, fourth on the table, will play Saturday’s final league game against Township Rollers. The Brave Warriors Cosafa Cup team: Goalkeepers – Virgil Vries and Maximillian Mbaeva; defenders – Willem Mwedihanga, Chris Katjiukua, Denzil Hoaseb, Ananias Gebhardt, Gregory Aukumeb, Dennis Ngueza Tjetinda; midfielders – Neville Tjiueza, Hendrik Somaeb, Peter Shalulile, Ronald Ketjijere (C), Wangu Batista, Joslin Kamatuka, Petrus Shitembi, Deon Hotto; strikers – Nicky Musambani, Itamunua Keimuine Sadney Urikhob and Benson Shilongo.
