Letter - Be where peace is

Today’s world is full of hatred, competition, lack of unity and love. Competition is everywhere in families and friendships. It’s hard to tell who loves you and doesn’t because people are full of pretence.

They are lions who come in a skin of a sheep, for they claim to build you up while their intentions are purely different from that. Thus, stay alert at all times.

Not too long ago this year, we heard and read stories in newspapers about innocent souls being sold for rituals, women being killed by their lovely husbands, innocent babies being dumped by their beloved mothers, innocent foetuses being aborted, young girls being raped, and the list is endless.

At times, I wonder where peace is in today’s world. For God has said everyone shall eat from their sweat, but it seems to mean different things nowadays.

Your suffering makes people happy while your success makes them sad, to an extent of thinking to make you lose your life.

In my humble opinion, the reasons to all these sad actions is that individuals have lost their own identities.

The desire to live a luxury life, drive the most expensive car and have the latest digital device are the causes.

As we approach the festive season, it is one of the most dangerous times where one is likely to lose their lives. It is thus safe to stay where harmony is, hence my simple advice to everyone: know who to hang out with.

If it is possible, buy your alcohol and drink at home with your beloved family and friends; do not go to a party where you are not invited; do not go and sunrise at nightclubs, neither to walk in dark streets; avoid looking expensive, wear simple but decent; and mostly pray for safety before you leave your compound.

Enjoy your festive season, and most importantly take care because there is still life after December.
