Man critical after being stabbed five times
Oshakati A 57-year-old man was on Sunday fighting for his life in the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after an unknown suspect stabbed him five times in the neck and chest. The incident happened early on Sunday morning at Evululuko location in Oshakati East. The victim was identified as Lot Ambunda. According to Police Regional Commander in the Oshana Region Commissioner Rauha Amwele Ambunda left the house to relieve himself when an unknown person attacked him. “The victim allegedly told his fellow housemates that he was going to the toilet when he left the house,” Amwele said. A security guard, who was in the vicinity, saw the victim and the suspect scuffling. However, by the time the security guard ran closer to try and intervene, the attacker had already fled the scene. “He (Ambunda) went back inside the house and the people there managed to take him to the hospital and also informed the police,” said Amwele. She said the victim was admitted in the ICU on Sunday, but could not confirm whether he was still in ICU by Monday afternoon. No arrest had been made in connection with the stabbing at the time of going to press. The police are now appealing to the public to assist in tracing the suspect, or for the suspect to hand himself over to law enforcement officers.
