Man fatally assaults stepfather

A 33-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his stepfather to death with a stick at Ombondeyomutse-wondjamba village in the Ruacana constituency on Monday.

According to Omusati police commander Titus Shikongo, the suspect allegedly hit the stepfather several times on the head.

He died on the scene. The victim was identified as Panduleni Tomas (54) from the same village.

According to Shikongo, the victim was allegedly attempting to stop the suspect from beating his girlfriend and mother. “The stepfather was allegedly attempting to stop the suspect from beating his girlfriend as well as his biological mother, but the suspect took a dry stick and hit the stepfather several times on the head,” said Shikongo. The altercation reportedly started with the girlfriend after she had allegedly advised her mother and father-in-law about their relationship issues. The suspect was allegedly angered by his girlfriend’s interference in his parent’s relationship issues and started to beat her with his fists.

The suspect is charged with murder read with domestic violence.

He is scheduled to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court today.

Investigations into the matter continue.
