Mbumba to visit south

Following visits to traditional leaders in northern and north-eastern Namibia recently, President Nangolo Mbumba will this week meet traditional authorities in southern Namibia.

This is part of plans to visit all regions of the country since assuming the Presidency on 4 February 2024 after the demise of former president Hage Geingob in the early hours of that day.

He engaged traditional leaders of the eight northern traditional authorities at Oshakati some two weeks ago in a closed-door meeting.

Soon afterwards, President Mbumba held a meeting with the leaders of four traditional authorities from the Zambezi region in Katima Mulilo.

The Presidency stressed that President Mbumba recognises the pivotal role played by traditional authorities in communities, and the part they play in nation-building.

Today, he will meet traditional leaders of the //Kharas region at the Schuetzenhaus Hotel in Keetmanshoop at 14h30.

President Mbumba will tomorrow attend the Unam Southern Campus graduation ceremony, and afterwards meet Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology executives.

On Saturday, he will meet the leadership of Lüderitz at the Nest Hotel, and visit the green hydrogen projects in the area.

On Sunday, President Mbumba will visit Shark Island and Diaz Point.

The President is equally planning consultations with traditional leaders in the affected communities on the 1904 genocide.
