Meditative drawing workshop scheduled for Saturday

Start Art Gallery and the Sweet Side of Thingz will be hosting a ‘pARTicipate Session’with Jakobina Gideon on Saturday.

Set to take place from 10h00 till 13h00 at The Sweet Side of Thingz along Independence Avenue, Windhoek, the session will be led by Gideon, who will be guiding attendees in a meditative drawing workshop.

StArt Art Gallery holds pARTicipate sessions to accompany exhibitions. In an informal setting, pARTicipants are encouraged to engage with artworks through doing, creating a deeper connection with the works on display and providing the opportunity to get to know the artist and their process better.

StArt Art Gallery also caters to activities for corporate or school environments. Offering a unique experience, these sessions are a fun approach to learning and team-building.

The cost of N$300 per person covers all materials and attendees will be able to enjoy a doughnut of their choice and the experience of being shown the ropes by Gideon herself.

Gideon is a painter from Arandis working towards a degree in architecture from the Namibia University of Science and Technology. She started showing her works in 2017 and since then she has exhibited in many group exhibitions locally. Her artworks are inspired by the relationship between the natural world and its inhabitants, especially human beings. Gideon explores the interconnectedness of humans, lives and emotions, and the crucible of the natural world that sustains people.

There are limited spaces so it is essential to book before 17h00 on 24 August to avoid disappointment.

Book via email (info@startartgallery.com) or WhatsApp 0813376582.

Saturday will also be the last day for the current exhibition, ‘SIDE BY SIDE, Jakobina Gideon and Nicky Marais’ at The Sweet Side of Thingz. Pop by for one last chance to see paintings by both of these artists.
