Meroro prepares for Battle of the Giants
Windhoek Last seen in action almost a year ago when he suffered a tumbling defeat at the hands of merciless Russian boxer Dmitry Kudryashov during their WBA Cruiserweight International title fight, Namibia’s cruiserweight boxer, Vikapita ‘Beastmaster’ Meroro, will finally be back in the ring next month. The 34-year-old Namibian former WBO Africa cruiserweight champion will on August 5 challenge South African opponent, Thabiso Mchunu, for the WBA Pan African Cruiserweight title in Durban, South Africa. Mchunu is the incumbent WBA Pan African Cruiserweight champion and boasts an admirable record of 17 wins and only 2 losses, while Meroro comes into the fight with 28 wins and 5 losses. Besides the title, Meroro has a lot resting on his shoulders as he will be out to restore his somewhat tattered pride with a comprehensive victory over the equally dangerous South African. A victory for Meroro could also go a long way in paving the way for the Namibian to climb back into the top of the African cruiserweight division food chain. Mchunu won his last fight against Boniface Kabore by way of a TKO and could pose serious danger for the Namibian if left unchecked in their coming fight - dubbed ‘The Battle of the Giants’.
