Namibia aims for strong finish at African Games

Namibia will be hoping to secure more medals at the 13th African Games before the games comes to an end this weekend.

With more than five medals already secured, Team Namibia’s marketing manager Chalo Chainda, expresses confidence in their potential for further success before the tournament’s conclusion this Saturday.

Currently ranked 18th on the medal table, Namibia boasts an impressive tally of eight medals: one gold, three silver, and four bronze.

Chainda, speaking from Accra, acknowledges the team’s achievements but remains optimistic about their potential for additional medals.

“Our athletes have performed admirably thus far, particularly in swimming and other disciplines,” Musutua said. “While satisfied with our current standing, I firmly believe we can strengthen our medal count further with continued support and encouragement for our athletes,” he added.

Highlighting notable achievements, Ronan Wantenaar secures Namibia’s first gold in the men’s 100m breaststroke, followed by Anri Krugel’s sensational silver in cycling. Alexander Skinner contributes two silver medals, excelling in both the men’s 100m freestyle and 50m freestyle events.

Ryan Williams adds to the tally with a medal in the men’s discus throw, while Jessica Humprey and wrestler Ester Abraham claim bronze in their respective events.

As of yesterday, Egypt was still dominating the medal tally with an impressive total of 158 medals, comprising 91 gold, 36 silver, and 31 bronze medals.

Following closely behind is Nigeria in second place, having amassed 78 medals, including 27 gold, 21 silver, and 30 bronze medals. South Africa secures the third position with a total of 93 medals, consisting 26 gold, 29 silver, and 38 bronze medals.
